2024 Coaching Appointment – U16 QPL - Glenn Hurney

We are pleased to announce that Glenn Hurney has been appointed our u16 QPL coach for the 2024 season.

Glenn has just started out on his coaching journey, coaching the Leichardt U14QPL team in 2023 where they finished second and made the Grand Final, and is coming back on board to coach the u16 QPL team in 2024.

As a player, Glenn is a Leichhardt old boy having played for the Premiers team over multiple seasons and was part of Leichardt’s last premiership winning team. Glenn was a Tully Junior who was a constant member of FNQ representative teams and also went on to be selected in numerous Queensland teams. He was also part of Peninsula and Queensland Schoolboy teams during his junior days. He began his senior playing career at 15 and spent time at Premier League Club Everton after being identified and invited to trial. He was also offered the opportunity to be part of the Brisbane Roar’s initial training squad when they entered the A-league. He has won multiple Premierships, Grand Finals, Crad Evans and player of the year awards throughout his senior playing days. He was part of the Far North Senior Representative setup from age 16, playing in numerous State cups, state leagues and representative competitions. He was also part of the FNQ Bulls teams that re-entered the state league in 2009 onwards.

He is looking forward to working with the U16’s to develop them as players who will look to make the move into the Leichhardt senior ranks in the coming years.
